1963 Jaguar XK-E Coupe Pictures

1963 Jaguar XK-E Coupe

The Series I E-type is the most looked-for of all the series with a fully synchronized 4 speed transmission, toggle switches on the dash, covered headlights, comfortable bucket seats, arm rest, and center console. This makes the best driver and the most collectable for an investment.

General Specifications:

Engine System: Performance 3.8L, 6 cylinder, 3 carbs
Transmission System: Transmission 4-speed Manual
Brake System: Brakes Disc front and rear

I was 16 in 1977 and had just gotten my drivers license. A local car dealer had two cars I had wanted since seeing them as a little boy. One was the '63 vette, the split window coupe w/327 4sp, but it was in yellow. Next to it was parked the 63 XKE with 3.8 6, and SU Set-up trible carbs and 4sp. just like the one on the front page. It was in light blue and had only 42,000 miles on it. During the road test I got goose bumps from the sound when I revved down the road during the test drive. I'd never heard anythng like it growing up on the farm. The price was $3500 and I had cash from selling hogs and working my summer jobs. However, my parents refused to sign insurance papers. It was a foreign sports car and the triple carbs scared them from speed and maintenance. The other was a vette & "No 16 year needs a vette!"
Instead I was given a 67 Fury II with 4drs and a slant 6 225/1bbl AT. Still the XKE series is arguably one of the most beautiful cars ever designed.
